Went with some friends to J Rock Kindom IV a couple of days ago. It was at a place called Ruums in Kuala Lumpur.

It was great! Never seen so many people dressed in visial kei, gothic loli, & decora outfits in one place. The crowd was just nice too, a big enough crowd to make it fun but not soo crowded that we could'nt breath or move.

There were contests like best dressed, art, and drag queen competitons (hey, girls can wear pants, so why can't guys wear skirts? 8D).
Got second place for the art competition, but as far as I know, there were only 2 people, myself included, taking part, so I kinda won by default. SAAAD! Victory's no fun if there's no one to beat. Was a lil' imbarassed cuz some people came up to congratulate me. Donno if I deserved it.

There were band performances too, and the first song performed was Saranai Tatakau Mono Tatchi (FF7), originally performed by the Black Mages. [link] Other bands performed various Jap rock songs, anime themes included (D-techno Life & Ready Steady!!). Naturally, they're not as good as the original bands, but I'm sure they worked hard to give us a show, so I appreciate that.
The MC guy (Shaun, I think) was cool. He wans't lame or annoying, and he had a really cool outfit and nice hair. I think I saw him at last year's Comic Fiesta dressed as what I think was Ryuk (Death Note). Also saw the same guy who dressed as a gothic lolli from CF. Was wearing red this time.

Lots of Japanese speaking, head banging & puking/shrieking noises (like these guys [link]). Reminded me of the band performances in high school: speakers were waay too loud & lots of love was given to the bands, only this time the bands actually played in sync and the lead singers could actually sing without their voices breaking (well, for the songs where they sang).
According to a friend who was at the front of the stage, in the midst of head banging, the lead singer of Strawberry Jam (O.o) knoked his tooth (ROFL!) and got blood+water splattred over some the audience, including my friend. I was safely watching from the 2nd floor.

Anyway, lots of stalking and photo taking by us. Among other things, me and my friend saw two guys dressed as a black and a white lolita infront of the lavatory mirrors fixing each other's hair. Went something like this:

Emily: Look at those two girls.
Me: I don't think they're girls...
Emily & me: >w<

Was fun. Probably the closest we'll get to a real J rock concert FOR NOW. Would like to go again next year, as much damage as it might do to my hearing.
