Postcard Print - Jumanji

Selling this as a postcard (hence the watermark) at my booth at this year's Comic Fiesta as part of a set my friends and I are doing. The theme for the set is movie posters. I picked this one for nostalgia.

I think I have more memories of the animated tv series than the original movie. I remember that show having really creative designs and ideas, like we'd glimpse how Jumanji is actually this artificial steampunk world. An interesting thing about my reaction to that show was, while I remember it having that dark undertone which was cool and trilling I didn't realize how creepy that show could get until I rewatched a bit of it on Youtube. That episode where Peter was turned into a Manji disturbed me wtf.

But back to the movie, revisiting it I could still enjoy it despite the more apparent flaws (I drew them being cute but those CG monkeys were awful) mostly because I really enjoy the whimsy and wonder of the house fusing with the jungle, I freaking love that. I also liked Robin Williams in it, was a nice touch how he was so not taking shit about finishing that game lol, it's nothing real deep or anything but it at least addresses the decades of terror he was in which most kids movies disappoint me with when they have a character go through something traumatic but don't have the character react appropriately.
